I was in Midwest for 5 months on North unit. In my time at Midwest I was treated with respect and kindness by all of my staff. The newer shift coordinator Mr. (Earl) Is an exceptional motivator and pushed me to do my best in the real world. The quality of the food is actually really good and good behavior earns you the ability to go on outings where you're free to be a kid again. The residents have a council and get to elect the outings which they then discuss with the CEO (Mr. Chris )for app...

My daughter spent 5 months here. She was treated with respect and love. I felt their DBT program, really helped my daughter express and deal with her feelings in a Healthier way. Before she came to Midwest, she would self harm to express her emotions and feelings. Now she talks her feelings out or focus her feelings in to a positive out lite. The facility has some negative things to it too. My daughter wished , they had more outings. She also wished the staff was more patient with ...

I don't really know where to begin. I was a resident at Midwest for 1 month and 20 days, from March 6th 2024 to April 26th 2024. I believe that most of the staff do care, or at least try to, as the pay there is god-awful. However most of those staff have odd ways of showing it. Ms. V, a staff that's been at Midwest for 16 or so years, would mock us when we were unregulated in front of other residents and staff. She put me on "AP" (assault precautions, they last 72 hours) for flinging a hair t...

I would give 5 stars but the cons are at the bottom of the review. I was recommended this facility for my daughter after 2 years of in and out of acute stays at another facility. The negative reviews are somewhat true, but for someone that understands the facts of life, this facility did help my daughter make the life changing turn around for the better. They specialize in DBT therapy, and she has had a better outlook on life. Before entering, she was cutting, overdosing and had a suicide ...

THIS FACILITY LIES TO PARENTS, and does not protect the patients. Please if you love your child, and are considering sending them here, do not. I was sent here at the age of 17. There were a lot of kids from the DOC (Department of Corrections) Before I came, I couldn't fight. After I left, I was worse. I can, and will fist fight now if it comes to it. I had nightmares for years afterward. On more than one occasion I woke up to being physically assaulted by other patients from a dead sleep in ...

I was there 2 years ago for a little over a month, and being there was not that bad it had some of its ups and downs but overall it helped in some situations that I could not handle at time but one thing I did not like were how rude some of the staff were. Some of the staff yelled a lot and I don’t like that, and it made me scared most of the time I was there to do anything. I liked how the schooling program was structured and easy to do when it was school time. I appreciate that they watch h...

This place is not currently for African American children with thick hair. My child who stands 6ft tall and plus size was intimated to shave half their afro off, without our permission. The director of Nurses called to ask if they could get their hair cut, I said no. There was a long pause and she said okay. Less then 10 minutes later I got a call from the staff saying their hair was already cut and a sorry explanation of how most parents don't mind. Most of the other parents kids didn't have...

The things they do here should be illegal. I was admitted here about 5 years ago and was discharged after 3 months. They treat you more like an inmate than a patient. They wouldn't let us outside for weeks while I was there and it got to the point where I felt like I was suffocating from being inside so much. The staff did absolutely nothing to resolve any issues between patients, and many patients like myself would end up getting bullied while some of the staff even encouraged that behavior....
