I’ve already left 1 bad review for Ballad health and because someone reached out to me I decided to remove the review. I’ve made a decision with all the health problems I have that I’m done tolerating abuse from nurses. I will die before I allow anyone to take me to this emergency room. Although none of them would provide me their names last night including the Doctor when I asked for the nurses names, there are other ways to find out.

I was released from JMH the day before and ended up calling an ambulance to take me to the ER because I had a GI blockage right after surgery. I was in excruciating pain. While being taken for a CT scan, as the nurse was hooking me up to contrast, she informed me this is not a good place for my IV. While I’m trying to get over to the CT table, she doesn’t assist me at all although I’m 4 days from abdominal surgery and I end up falling backwards almost falling off the other side of the table. She keeps repeating to me how bad this is going to hurt and this is a horrible place for contrast. Yet she is proceeding to do it anyway. As the contrast starts going in me I literally start screaming from pain because it felt like my veins were about to explode. She claims she stopped the contrast. Attempted to begin working on giving me another IV but she was so aggressive with me I told her to stop. She said “that’s fine I’ll just say you refused” and we won’t be about to get the images. She then rolls me back to the ER and I’m sobbing from pain my hand is now in. Her and another nurse give me the death stair through the desk window and as I’m pleading for someone to help me the other nurse who’s name I have yet to find out, was being extremely hateful to me and because I was crying she closed my door. There are so many more details to last night but I can still barely feel my fingers and hand and my arm is now twice it’s normal size. Neither of these women deserve their jobs. So much lack of compassion and respect for patients it’s scary. I’m done being quiet.

My father was in maple grove for rehab and then he got very sick. He was sent to this hospital and they saved his life. They were so caring and wonderful. A+++ to their ICU especially Sharon who was his nurse and all the doctors and nurses when just excellent.

My mother received some of the best care from nurses, doctors, and techs in all of the ballad system that we have encountered. They were kind and considerate. I was impressed.

My daughter, who was in college nearby, went to the ER in January for severe abdominal pain and bleeding which was diagnosed as a ruptured ovarian cyst. My daughter, who was in college nearby, went to the ER in January for severe abdominal pain and bleeding which was diagnosed as a ruptured ovarian cyst. I was 2 hours away and when I got to the ER, she was still in the ER waiting room, doubled over in a chair. She went in and registered, then returned to the waiting room, went to triage, then back to the waiting room. She was taken back for lab draws, and again back to the waiting room. She went for an ultrasound and once again sent back to the waiting room. And finally back to the triage room for results. She never entered the actual "ER" for any services. Not one time in the nearly 4 hours that she was there, was she offered anything for pain-AND she was NOT seeking pain medication. Not even offered Tylenol or Ibuprofen. She was going through feminine hygiene products every 30-45 minutes and was not offered any products from the ER. She used her own products brought from home.
She DID NOT receive any products, supplies or medications of any kind from the hospital. Nothing.
I received a bill with charges totaling nearly $4000. I requested her medical records. Upon reviewing the records, it was documented and attested that a female provider had spent face-to-face time with the patient. This is NOT accurate. My daughter NEVER seen the female provider that attested to these services. She only seen a male provider.
She was also billed for Level 4 services-but records docummented Level 2 services.
I have been round and round with Ballad and have yet to receive any definitive response as to these "inaccuracies".
I have emailed and called and have been told that someone would return my call with an explanation.
At one point, I was told that someone had returned my call and I did not respond. I can 100% assure you that I did not receive a call at my home or my cell.
So here we are, 8 months after and no one can tell me why services were "attested" to that didn't occur and why I was billed for Level 4 services and Level 2 was documented.
As a follow-up, my daughter ended up having surgery in Knoxville in July to have a dermoid tumor removed that was not diagnosed.
I do plan to file a complaint with my insurance company, the Virginia Dept of Health and Joint Commission.
Please, please, please be an advocate for yourself or a loved one and review your records.

If I could leave 0 stars I would. Staff is awful, got charged an ungodly amount of money just for them to check my blood pressure and heart rate. Worst hospital I’ve ever been to.

Russell Community Hospital is a JOKE. I wouldnt recommend this place to anyone. Where do I began... First off they had us held in the hallway. Fourth my wife has had this IV port in her foot over five hours after they already put another one in her arm. Not one single person has came and checked on us. I had to go get them to help her to the restroom. Dr Kurt was the one on call he didn't know any bed side manners and didn't check on any of his patients. They try to tell me my wife didn't have a seizure but who doesnt know what a seizure is? This place is a joke. Plus sending her home with a fever of 101.4 have not gave her any type of medicine since 6:45.
