Plus it helps that the staff did everything to keep the patients engaged, with basketball, painting, music, and movies! 🏀🎨🍿 God saves, he saved me and he will save you too if you come onto Christ at the only true Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints!😉🕊️🔥🕊️💙 Again, just want to thank the staff, I've been doing well, making money, got a fully paid off car, a bunch of friends, and a loving family, and I credit God for using these wonderful staff members and administrators to get the job done with compassion and understanding!💙🙏💙🙏💙🙏💙

I was brought here by Florida statute due to a poor choice of wording at an ER. There were not enough beds on the floor I was supposed to be on, so I was placed in the geriatric ward for an evening. I will say the nurses and techs on this floor were very kind for the 24 hours I was there.
However, when I was moved to the appropriate floor, it was a nightmare. I met with a Dr. and a social worker and explained to them my situation and that it was all a misunderstanding and it seemed like the...

I met with a Dr. and a social worker and explained to them my situation and that it was all a misunderstanding and it seemed like they understood. I come to find out, the doctor only prescribed me medication that I didn't even need and the social worker did nothing.
My husband brought clothes at 1:45pm and I did not receive them until after 6pm! I kept asking for my belongings and no one could seem to locate it.
After my required 72 hours, I was told that I was still a risk to myself and that they were keeping me. I was specifically told my "Dr. Mike" that the facility superseded the law and they could keep me as long as they wanted. I told them keeping me was detrimental to my health, my family and my job. He could care less. He told me to see a nurse for medication for my anxiety. I have never had anxiety in my life.
All this facility wants to do is drug their patients and not help anyone. I did not meet with any counselors, therapists, social workers to assess my situation. I was just told that I was still a risk based on what had happened in the ER.
When the medication nurse called me to take my meds that I did not need, I told her I did not need them. She was rude and condescending about the whole thing. She treated the other patients with the same disrespect.
A gentleman who did not have the proper insurance was begging for help, but they were forcing his discharge because the insurance was not going to pay.
Needless to say they kept me for 7 days, against my will, risking my job, my kids schooling and my mental health so they could bill my insurance $2700 a night for me being there.
The facility is not there to help anyone. They are there to bill insurance companies. They keep you past the Florida statute 72 hours because they immediately file a court date, before they even assess you, so that they can hold you legally. They will then discharge you right before that court date because they know they don't have a leg to stand on.
The counseling groups they have are pathetic. The leaders are rude, condescending and unhelpful if you go against their agenda. I wouldn't wish this facility on my worst enemy.

I felt unsafe and could not sleep well, I only could trust a few people that were there, and a few of the fellow patients…
(I am not going to fill things out and do someone else’s job for them!!)
I was diagnosed with PTSD and OCD after having a personal issue in 2022 and also Hurricane Ian while I was there 😔💕🌸.
I had to do my own wound care while I was there every 2-3 hours, then plead for pain medication. (Hurry up and wait)

04/25/2024 My daughter was sent here under Florida statute unlawfully and with medical clearance from SMH Venice when she should not have been medically cleared. She spent less than 24 hours here in their nightmare of a facility. She was left in a room unattended with a very non private prison toilet ,if you will, for hours. Then she was left in paper gown and paper underwear even though she had clothes brought there. The staff told her “see your mom wants you here because she brought and dropped off clothes” then they never gave her the clothes until I was sitting in their lobby with an order for her to be released immediately. When I dropped the clothes off the woman at the desk recorded what we brought then wanted me to sign the document and take a picture of it but yet never asked who my daughter is. I had to say “don’t you need to know who my daughter is?” After she was very obviously ready for me to turn and walk out the door. My daughter had poo on her blanket and on her wall. There was no soap for hand washing and she was not given any when she asked. The staff turned the phone off switch in the middle of her phone call to be outright mean. There were so many distraught family members in the waiting room trying to understand why their loved one was still being held . One woman shared with me that their loved one was in the same clothes unwashed and on her 28th day . A staff member violated hippa in the waiting room discussing with a family member openly about their suicidal ideation. The people that I did see discharged while I waited all looked traumatized upon leaving. Flat effect no smiles. No dignity here at all. In my opinion, based on reviews and multiple lawsuits this place should be shut down immediately.

I stayed here in 2022 for 2 weeks. I felt UNSAFE! I could not sleep and the staff got off on terrorizing me. For example they put dateline on in the morning saying it was okay cause it’s news… I had a patient tell me isn’t this place weird they have real glass in the bathrooms which I found very odd. One night I couldn’t sleep and another patient couldn’t either she sat down next to me and I have anxiety and fear of people so I got up and moved to a new chair that pissed the girl off and she ...

The night staff was worst than the day staff. I couldn’t sleep at all when I was there and I felt my health declining thankfully I was released on the precedence I will go and complete IOP. There is other illegal things they have done there I’ve seen I won’t get into it. But yeah zero stars.

I truly don’t understand how this place is still open. I was lied to and manipulated by their psychiatrists into being an involuntary status when I specifically expressed I had no harm of hurting myself and just wanted a medication adjustment. They gave me the exact same meds I had taken for years but I had to stay longer to be “monitored.”If you have good insurance, they will do everything they can to keep you there as long as possible and will lie on your documentation. The staff is incredi...

The staff is incredibly rude and do not care about your wellbeing. They are also extremely under qualified as it only takes a high school diploma to work there if that tells you anything. Stay as far away from this place as possible and if you are truly in need of help I would highly recommend SalusCare as they actually follow the minimum 72 hours. I was in Park Royal with people who were there for weeks. They only released me after my parents went into the lobby and raised hell about fighting the insurance charge and threatening to sue. I was discharged less than 4 hours after that.

I just got released from there after 6 days and i was anxious to leave because i felt so comfortable and not judged, very good hospitality. I believe you only enjoy or look at this place from a positive view if you truly wish to get better. I appreciate the staff, the psychiatrists and therapist for getting me out of the bad mental space i was in and getting a diagnosis that will help me understand myself better and those around me will also understand me better. Thank you!

Park Royal Psychiatric Hospital is a nightmare disguised as a sanctuary for mental health care. Shockingly, reports have surfaced alleging the falsification of documents, a disturbing practice that undermines patient trust and safety. Shockingly, reports have surfaced alleging the falsification of documents, a disturbing practice that undermines patient trust and safety. Additionally, the indiscriminate use of Baker Act procedures reflects a callous disregard for patient autonomy and well-being, further exacerbating the trauma of vulnerable individuals seeking help. Even voluntary patients aren't spared from the chaos, as they endure a harrowing experience that leaves them with long-term psychological scars. It's a place where families' hopes turn into despair, and loved ones leave with more burdens than when they arrived. Avoid at all costs.
