Do not take your child here, they do not help your child or give them the treatment they need. Going impatient at that hospital was like being in prison. They treat kids horrible and threaten to hit them or fight them. We did nothing but sit in one room everyday till we slept.

This place never gave me my belongings back from when I was impatient. 80$ worth of stuff that were mine are now gone. That u GAVE them in a ziplock bag till I got out.

My daughter was here for just about 2 weeks. Staff was informative and very helpful all the time, every time I went in the front desk was super nice and all staff. My daughter also said that the techs that work with the patients are really good, she had a good experience as well and it really did help. I feel like we are on a healthy road to recovery. Thank you guys for taking care of my baby.

I do not recommend this facility. I experienced a very low point in my life that would have greatly improved had I simply had access to support from out of state friends and family. Instead, people whom are not legal relatives and whom do not have a good relationship with me, received information regarding my circumstances. In an effort to gain police support in tracking my whereabouts, they unsuccessfully attempted to report me as a missing person. When they finally found me, instead of respecting my request for them to leave, they dialed 911 - claiming to be my core family and creating this narrative that I was experiencing psychosis and that I was a vulnerable individual. I explained to EMTs that they are not my legal family and that I was not missing, but I was unheard and detained by police.
Prior to transferring me to this hospital - they treated me for dehydration, but prepared to "dump" me in the pysch ward, without any explanation or discussion on what it was that I had done. I was later transferred to this hospital, where they too were not open about the reason for admittance - I read my hospital records later and found that someone lied and said I was threatening my "family," when "they" (not actually my family) were the ones who aggressively tracked me down and refused to leave me alone. All I said was, "Go away" and I got detained like a human rat.
What I can say about this hospital is that they make diagnoses with very little assessment, but are so confident in their accuracy that they will go to court in an excited frenzy to attempt to force treatment. I was given a diagnosis that was bizarre, given what was actually going on with me and that it is not common for onset to be at middle-age. I was prescribed two medications for it. I did not want any medication of that nature in my system - so, I received a "shot" in punishment for refusal, and a couple of Nigerians, who never assessed me, went to court over it. They won - and then, as if it had all been about having some sort of silly African parade or competition at the expense of tax-payers, they released me shortly thereafter. After putting a ridiculous civil case on my record with false information and making it sound like I needed months of treatment, they released me, saying I was not much better and other demoralizing sentiments that just did not add up.
I am particularly sarcastic about the African population, because my experience in Texas has been that they are racist towards certain mixed-raced people...and the hate and harassment doesn't stop in the hospital setting. They were ridiculous about telling people they smell and, on a day when the entire unit reeked, an Asian doctor (on their side) walked in with a face mask to announce that I must have a tampon stuck in me. They called an ambulance and sent me to the ER with no health insurance. They created the narrative and no one at the admitting hospital would listen to me. $17,000+ later, they were done testing and there was no tampon to be found - but they billed me anyway and sent it to collections, because they had no way of getting in touch with me. The doctor later apologized to me, but explained it just smelled so bad - the whole wing did, I could smell it from outside the doors when they brought me back. A single tampon cannot do that.
I was not the only one trying to get out. I was relatively patient. I believe someone else actually called the police, hoping they would get her out - they make it look like, on paper, you are there voluntarily...but you are not, once you are in the system. Anyway, after careful thought, upon release, I proceeded to get the hell out of dodge (Texas) by driving back to the state I grew up in. I am medication-free, with a full-time job requiring a sound understanding of analytical and general mathematical concepts, as well as enrolled in a graduate degree program with a 4.0+ GPA. How about that, cowboys? How about that? You can get me down, but you cannot keep me down. You just put me down to get paid and to make someone else feel special.

Secondly I want to talk about their cafeteria nutrition. They take extra time and extra care to prepare SEPARATE meals for people who have dietary restrictions. Whether that be diabetic diets, low fat diets, nut allergy diets or what ever, the kitchen staff takes everyones dietary ...

Secondly I want to talk about their cafeteria nutrition. They take extra time and extra care to prepare SEPARATE meals for people who have dietary restrictions. Whether that be diabetic diets, low fat diets, nut allergy diets or what ever, the kitchen staff takes everyones dietary restrictions very seriously. Which I'm a fan of. Every meal had every source of protein, fiber, calcium etc that you need in each meal to maintain a healthy temple/body. I've never been to a mental hospital or rehab facility where after I left, I was having straight food withdrawals lol.
The therapists that we had during our daily process groups were not only knowledgable, as they should be, but they were also extremely patient with the clients. Dealing with my mental disorders for over 15+ years I've seen every type of therapist and psych and the group that they have at DBHH is top quality.
Speaking of the Psychs, We met with them once a day to tell them how we are feeling today, that day because every day is different. and based on what you share with them, they either make changes to your medication or they keep it the same.
This is somwhere that i would 100% recommend to an individual struggling with mental health. Unfortunately, I would have to recommend an actual rehab facility to someone who is dealing with substance abuse. As someone who is 5 years clean and have seen good and bad rehab facilities, im a firm believer that someone struggling with substance abuse needs at least 1-2 hours of daily talk-therapy, which DBHH does not provide.
But if you are struggling with anxiety, depression, bi-polar, or anything in the wheelhouse of mental health, I 100% endorse DBHH and encourage you to find someone to give you a ride, take an assessment and ask for help.

the safety of the unit is questionable as well. just to cite one quick example, there were bottles of alcoholic hand sanitizer unattended at the nurses station. i managed to drink one durin...

the safety of the unit is questionable as well. just to cite one quick example, there were bottles of alcoholic hand sanitizer unattended at the nurses station. i managed to drink one during my stay. they did not notice, and discharged me that very afternoon. the staff are negligent in every aspect.
this is not a place of healing. and it should absolutely not still be operating.

If you are looking for rehabilitation do not come here you will leave more traumatized after staying here. i was admitted here and during my stay it was very difficult for me to get in contact with my family. there was this one nurse named Felicia who threatened my safety the most. i got chased by her multiple times i was afraid for my life when things escalated when another patient started following me and was able to sneak into my room at night despite there being nurses there which ate supposed to watch out for our safety. when i left they told me she wouldn’t be working there anymore but till this day i am unsure if she still works there.

I brought my 11 year old son here for an evaluation. I was surprised at how clean this facility was and how nice the staff was. Most behavioral places for children are sketchy, but I felt that I could leave my son here, and he would be taken care of. The intake nurse was very detailed oriented. We weren't rushed, and were offered snacks while we waited. My son did not qualify for inpatient treatment, but out of all the places in DFW, i would have been okay if he stayed.
